Port Vale manager Jon Brady has hailed youngster Rhys Walters and says the midfielder will get opportunities to play in the final third of the season.
I think he is a brilliant young talent and I really think a lot of him. He has trained exceptionally well today, as he does, and he will get his chance from now to the end of the season…
Walters has been involved mainly on the bench since Brady took over but the manager has no doubts about the 20 year-old’s attributes. He told a fans forum: “He hasn’t had the game time that the rest of the group have at the moment. I think he is a brilliant young talent and I really think a lot of him. He has trained exceptionally well today, as he does, and he will get his chance from now to the end of the season.
“So, when he gets that opportunity, could he take it and hold that place down? I really believe he’s an exceptional talent and the future for this club, then and now.”
The former Vale youth teamer impressed in the second-half of last season after being handed a three and a half year contract in January 2025. It resulted in the club being promoted last season. However, he found himself out of the side in the early part of the season under the management of Darren Moore. This season, Walters has managed seven League starts and four appearances off the bench.
