Port Vale manager Darren Moore has had his say on the controversial red card handed to captain George Byers in the game against Burton Albion.
Byers was dismissed after fourteen minutes for a challenge which looked to many like he won the ball fairly.
All I can say is from my point of view, in real time, I didn’t think it was a sending-off, I thought it was a perfectly timed challenge…
Darren Moore told BBC Radio Stoke: “All I can say is from my point of view, in real time, I didn’t think it was a sending-off, I thought it was a perfectly timed challenge.
“The interpretation of the law is that it was a little bit reckless, done at speed, sometimes challenges will warrant that. The referee has made a decision we’re not going to change it now. The most pleasing thing was the way the lads adapted themselves, acquitted themselves. They went about their job in the right manner.
Moore said the club would not consider an appeal until Monday saying: “I think it’s best to. I think you give yourself another 24 hours to calm down. Then look at the appeal. It looked a strong challenge, a fair challenge and we hope the video evidence supports that.”

Byers isn’t a Dirty player , it’s not in his nature, so not a sending off 4 me … ♥️
A hard fair tackle isn’t a red card offence
It was Not a Red Card Tackle, he got the ball fairly ! – The reaction of their players was bad, the tall one who pushed Byers, should have got a yellow card ! Their Crowd Were cheering – They thought they would win against 10 Men They were wrong The vale 10 got a deserved draw ! – If I can find out which Hospital their badly injured player is in – I Will send him a bunch of Grapes !
Its no more than a reckless challenge yc ..getting the ball first doesn’t make a challenge legal wish ppl would realise that ..and its not an s2 vc offence its an S1 serious foul play ♀️he was sent off for .defo should appeal tho
