Former Port Vale defender Dan Jones has signed for National League North side Spennymoor Town.
Spennymoor manager Graeme Lee commented: “We’re absolutely delighted to bring Dan to the Club. It’s been no secret that we’ve been after someone for that area of the pitch and to be able to bring a player of Dan’s calibre in is a real boost for us. He’s got good pedigree, lots of experience at a higher level and is a committed and determined defender so we’re confident he will strengthen us going into the season.”
Jones spent last season on loan with National League side Gateshead before being released by the Valiants at the end of the season. He made 29 appearances for Gateshead last season.
Jones is able to play at left-back or in central defence and possesses a useful long throw. He was initially signed on a two-year deal by Darrell Clarke in 2021 and despite an injury-wracked time, he was given a two year extension by Director of Football David Flitcroft in 2023. Overall, Jones made 71 appearances during his time at Vale Park.
Jones has had previous spells with Harrogate Town, Barrow and Salford City to name just three of his former clubs. Overall, he has made 270 appearances since turning professional in 2013.

good acquisition at that lev el, I appreciate his efforts for us.
I thought that for quite a while Dan was often our best player. Unfortunately for Dan the serious injury he suffered was his death knell as on his return he was never the same player. I wish Dan all the very best and hope that this move works out for him.
Best o luck Dan
