In a complete contrast to the goalless draw at Newcastle, Vale went goal crazy as they netted seven times on Saturday with Lorent Tolaj scoring a hat-trick.
It was a quiet first-half with Port Vale’s trialist striker to the fore. The forward missed one chance before putting the Valiants 1-0 up at the break.
The Vale then went goal crazy in the second 45 minutes. Lorent Tolaj scored twice in eight minutes, the second a penalty to make it 3-0 to the Valiants. Jack Shorrock then made it 4-0 with a corner which went into the net. Tolaj completed an excellent hat-trick on 77 minutes before Ruari Paton added a sixth on 79 minutes. It was left to summer signing Jordan Gabriel to make it 7-0 on 89 minutes.
