Former Port Vale loanee Rico Richards, who enjoyed a successful loan spell with the Valiants, has been released by Aston Villa.

Villa confirmed the release of Richards when they confirmed their retained list on the Premier League website:

Richards did well during his loan spell with the club. The 21 year old made 27 appearances, scoring three times as well as providing several assists. Last season was the second successive promotion to League One for the youngster having also helped Stockport County to the third tier the previous season.

Following the release of attacking midfielder Ethan Chislett, Vale may be in the market for a replacement – would a permanent move for Richards fit the bill?
