Port Vale manager Darren Moore told the local media that there is no transfer activity happening at the club at the moment but as the end of the window closes, things could “heat up” quickly.
Here’s what Moore said ahead of the game with Accrington.
The Colchester postponement
“From our point it was a big disappointment and frustration. Having travelled down on a Monday, obviously you are mentally prepared for a game. For the game be called off at 2.30pm on a Tuesday, you can imagine the mindset of myself, the players and the staff.”
A possible fixture pileup
“It’s looking that way. If it does we’ll deal with it if it comes to it.”
Mitch Clark’s ban
“It’s going to be a blow to us. Mitch is somebody I really highly respect as a player. He’s come back fit. If Mitch can capture the form that I know he can, we have a really good player on our hands. We’ve seen large parts of that – his ability and what he gives us going forward. This has come at the wrong time.”
The wingbacks
“They’ve provided us with fluidity, a consistency and a balance to the team. Bringing in Jaheim (Headley), people can see what he brings us. Those two (Clark and Headley) have given us thrust and energy. In those positions, we feel we’re strong.”
The forward partnership – Jayden Stockley and Lorent Tolaj
“Both of them over recent games have scored. Both of them have been working well together. Both of them have a level of understanding. We feel that if we can get the ball into the right position for both of them, they will score goals. To get our number nines on the scoresheet, scoring is always a welcome boost to the team.”
The transfer window closing
“Right now, at the moment, there is nothing happening. It’s a real busy time and we expect the window to start heating up now because it always does. Expect a lot of activity. The main focus though is to focus on what’s happening on the football pitch.”

Do we really need anymore players .
Yeah, a big goal hungry old style centre forward,, but Santa came a month ago so,,,,
The squad is more than likely the largest in Div 2 and that is way above any other team. We have seen over the last 2 and a half seasons massive turnover in playing staff and off the field staff. We have just under half a season to go and if the manager is still here it will be interesting what the summer brings.
I’ve just read an item about a pundit who has seen a lot of Division 2 football this season, he has named his side, the best players , yes it is his option, but ,not one Vale player in the squad.
The squad is good enough and big enough, it’s a manager we need !
