Port Vale manager Darren Moore says the support of the fans is crucial and he knows his team has lots to do as it approaches a busy period of the season.
Moore spoke to the media ahead of Vale’s visit to League newcomers Bromley. Here’s what he had to say.
The win in the Football League Trophy
I think it’s a competitive fixture and both teams wanted to win it. They’re a good team, Doncaster, and it was really good to come out with that (win). It was really important to get that result and that feelgood factor. We made the changes and I was really pleased with the positives – to win the game, Rakeem (Harper) scoring, Mitch Clark making his comeback, Diamond Edwards playing some minutes, George Byers getting some first team minutes and the likes of Nathan Smith getting some first-team minutes. For us it was a win-win…
Mitch Clark’s return from injury
Mitch is another string to the bow in terms of what he can give us. On a personal level, I’m really pleased for him. I saw him in pre-season, I saw when he sustained the injury and I saw what it meant to him. My desire is for Mitch to play competitive football because he deserves it and not only that but he’s a terrific player…
On the right wingback position
Brandon’s done fantastic for us. For someone from Leicester U21 to show the consistency he has is a credit to him. He’s done fantastic for us. When we had that blip with Mitch we had to bring in an additional player and it was Brandon we had seen, thought of and recruited. Credit to Mitch for his hard work in getting back to fitness. Credit to both players and the competition in that position has gone up another level…
Injuries
The ones we are concerned with – Jayden (Stockley) hopefully we’ve managed him through the situation. We’ve had to manage him and hopefully we’ve done that. Obviously Ben Garrity is back in training and we have to manage him. George (Byers) is back in there so we’re assessing him. Great to see him have 45 minutes. Benny (Benicio) has picked up a slight knock. It may be a strain which we are assessing at the moment. Apart from that, going into the busy period hopefully we’ve got the numbers back…
Bromley
They’ve done extremely well. Their manager is very experienced and a team that has not lost since October. We’re going down to Bromley and we’re playing an in-form team. They are really awkward to play against. They have wonderful team spirit and desire. We’re facing an in-form team and we’ll have to be at our level best…
The away support
The fans get mentioned every team talk. I understand what it (the club) means to the supporters. The supporters are always there with us because they support the club throughout. We know we have so much more work to do. We’d like to thank them so much for their support. I thank them all…

He needs to sign 2 forwards on loan and midfield player whou can hold the ball up to the forwards if we have any attempts to go for promotion
Dothan I agree but you can’t say that you will upset the Moore brigade
