Port Vale CEO Matt Hancock has given an update to the club’s media team about a range of issues. Hancock has confirmed that season ticket prices will be frozen, a new ticketing system introduced and a full review of football operations will take place.
We have posted the questions raised and responses given below.
Season tickets
Why has there been a delay in announcing season tickets?
“The delay is centered around feedback from supporters. Moving forward we have a ticket process and system that is the best for our supporters (the club will have a new ticketing provider). Working with the new ticketing provider, which will be announced next week, the best time to get the tickets on sale will be some time towards the end of May.”
What will be the season ticket prices next season?
“Season ticket prices will be frozen.”
What about early bird prices and paying by installment?
“We’ll start the early bird prices as soon as the tickets are available. There will be options for direct debit. Further information will come.”
Will Team Valiants (formerly Junior Valiants) be available?
“Yes. The offer will stay the same. Also the Under-12 season ticket will remain for the Hamil End.”
Club finances
How does the (loss last year) impact the club?
“Accounts are published and comments circulate quite quickly. The take away messages is football has an issue in terms of the owners’ investment into football clubs to make it sustainable. The Shanahans are fully invested in the football club. The losses that we made last year are absolutely sustainable in terms of the Shanahans and their ongoing commitment to the club.”
Football operations
Where does that stand currently?
“The here and now is absolutely the focus. We will absolutely be doing a full review of the football club once the season is done. We are talking internally about what the football operations should look like. Conversations are happening across the club. We want to make sure we are listening to best practice across the country and also people who know Port Vale.”

What about 1876 membership ?
Perhaps they should have been reduced given the chances are we are playing in a lower league next season.
You do not listen to any feedback from the supporters, you were just edging your bets.or seeing how the wind blows, your contact with the supporters this season has been pathetic, to say the least.
It’s a tedious modern fad to randomly throw in the word “absolutely” into a sentence to suggest it is fact and not open to debate. “In the here and now” Does he used the same AI bot to write his speeches as Darren?
Season tickets for the railway paddock should be reduced as the long suffering supporters have had to put up with dreadful toilets as well as a dreadful team this just shows the contempt the shanahans have for the supporters
Are you going to involve the fans or is it one of Carols secret top secret projects, you charged us for division 1 with a none league team, so are the powers that be ,going to actually get rid of the deadwood and bring in some players.To get out of division 1 you need championship players to get out of division 2 you need a mixture of experienced players and division 1 players NOT A BUNCH OF KIDS.
“The club is in a health position” Recruitment and the toilet situation on the Railway Paddock side says totally the opposite. Where and how do you leave feedback with the club, because I don’t know. A New ticketing provider? Why is everything being made so complicated ! And as for Football Operations, what the hell does that mean? The club is playing politician with us, talk in riddles and never answer any questions. Alls I know is, failure to invest in the recruitment and trying to run the club on the cheap will cost the club it’s league one status and a couple a million quid, and I don’t need any Football Operations expert to tell me that.
