Port Vale manager Andy Crosby says the coaching staff are “looking at everything” as they look to make the Valiants more potent upfront.
The Valiants are now five games without scoring a goal and Crosby says the side are working hard to fix the issue.
Asked if he understands the frustration of some supporters Crosby told the media: “I one hundred percent understand their frustration. We are not scoring goals. Are we creating opportunities? Yes. Are we being ruthless enough? No. We have to become more ruthless in the final third. One hundred percent. We’re not scoring enough goals. We are creating, we’re getting to really good areas, it’s now about the last bit.”
In terms of addressing the issue Crosby said: “We’re looking at a variety of things. We’re looking at everything.”
But he won’t be looking for excuses adding: “I don’t go down the bad luck route as I think that’s an easy cop out. And talking about officials etc etc.”
However, the manager thinks that the club’s style of play and principles will see them come out of their recent slump adding: “We’ll keep looking at ourselves. What I won’t deviate from is the way I want to play irrespective of the formation. There’s going to bumps in the road but if you have a style of play, we’ll stick to it and ride out this storm and when we come through it we’ll be better for it.”
