Following the departure of Devante Cole in the January transfer window, manager Jon Brady moved to replace the striker with the experienced Andrew Gray. The then 34 year-old had been playing in Turkey and joined the Valiants initially on a short-term deal.
The striker had 115 Premier League appearances to his name and previously played for Luton Town, Brentford and Burnley among others, winning the Championship golden boot in 2016 while at Watford.
He made his full debut in a 4-0 Football League Trophy loss to Stockport County. Gray made the odd classy contribution but his age meant he took time to adjust to League One football and he was released at the end of the season.
