Port Vale lose final friendly game of the summer

Andy Crosby’s side lost their final friendly game of the summer as they went down 1-0 at Doncaster Rovers on Saturday afternoon.

The Valiants had an early chance for Ben Garrity before they suffered an early injury blow as summer signing Jason Lowe was replaced by Lewis Cass.

Vale had further first-half chances for Sang and Garrity before the home side threatened through Olowu.

It was a disappointing second-half performance as the Valiants failed to produce a goal threat. The home side took advantage as they scored the decisive goal through sub George Broadbent.

Vale had a late chance for their sub Mal Benning but it wasn’t to be as Vale’s summer friendly campaign ended on a losing note. It will be interesting to see if the club boosts its forward options ahead of the League One season.
