Personally I thought a point against Barnsley a good result . We’re fighting at last… good for next season as hope not but think it’s still to far away to stay up… and wow the Peterborough result… yer they may be poor but vale played well to get a win… well done… I’ve changed my mind on Mr Brady… he looks like he knows what he’s doing… keep it up Vale

Trouble is Jon there’s been too many negative performances that’s why we are where we are. Absolutely the very best in attempting the escape but looking like you came in too late everything crossed for the remaining games UTMV

Maybe they should not be negative, but you Mr Brady have not gone through what the Vale fans have this season, the powers that be did not listen when they were told Mr Moore had not got what it takes to be the Port Vale manager and Hancock has not got a clue what he is doing, so the fans were are right. Some of these players are sub standard ,we have youngsters who are better do you play them NO, you stick with Brown and Sharif who are no good enough ( sorry I have to say it ) for our local pub team, if you are staying at the Vale John listen to the fans, as for last nights result and the above average standard, some of these players team played at, we need it every week not now and again, the fans can take some grief but not the amount we have this season, thank you Vale for last night, and all the best to you John

You will get “fans” booing at Man City and Arsenal never mind the Vale. To engage with them gives them credibility they don’t deserve. We all want the Vale to flourish and are disappointed when we seem to be not making progress. I think everyone can see that there has been an improvement since Jon Brady and his team have taken over. Sometimes you have to go backwards to go forwards – let’s hope that this is where we are now. In the meantime let’s give Jon and his team our best support.

Well Mr Brady can I just say that the vale fans have paid to watch (and paid for) some awful performances this season some under your tenure. You had a transfer window to bring in some decent players and you bought in players who didn’t have a club. All vale fans want to see is commitment and some ability from the players on the pitch.

Respect has to be earned not only from a players/fans point of view but just as importantly club/fan relationships which has been so sadly missing.

Let’s hope that you can dispose of the majority of the current squad in the close season and then bring in some more committed professionals who will show fight for the shirt.

And on a closing note just why have we had so many long term injuries this season and why is it so difficult to find out what injuries the players have and any indications on when they are due to return.

BC, while I certainly don’t think Jon Brady is immune from criticism I think criticism of his January transfer window dealings is harsh. Vale were already adrift at the bottom when he was appointed. What decent player is going to up sticks and commit to a side looking relegation bound? To commit to potentially moving house and their family only to have half a season of battling relegation and then presumably spend the next season in League Two. Most decent players have options and they are always going to chose the best-placed side, not the relegation outfit. As a result, Brady could only pick up loanees and free agents. Beggars can’t be choosers.

As for the injury updates, I understand that is not to give opponents any clues as to who is available. Frustrating for the fans maybe but an understandable approach in professional sport. I personally think the time to judge Jon Brady is after the summer transfer window when he’s had a chance to rework the squad significantly.

It’s not perfect and it’s almost certainly too little, too late. But Jon Brady is clearly making a positive impact and comes across as a decent human being who knows what he is doing.
It has been a really tough and frustrating watch this season, my Vale life goes back to the early 80s and it’s hard to think of a time when it was so consistently awful on the pitch. I totally get it, but negativity only breeds negativity. Time for a clearout, a reset, and go again – hopefully without losing any more young talent.

I am never too sure, who the booing against Barnsley was directed at. Was it
1. The Vale players.
2. The Vale manager.
3. The Vale owners.
4. The officials.
5. The opposition.
One thing is for sure, some Vale fans are never backwards in expressing their disapproval, particularly around the tunnel.
In the 60’s, the fans in the Railway stand used to throw their seat cushions onto the pitch.
Even Club Legends Roy Sproson, John Rudge, Brian Horton, Dean Glover & Neil Aspin have been subjected to the bird.
Unfortunately Jon, you just have to suck it up like Mark Robins said after the game at Derby County and maintain a dignified silence like Darren Moore.

I don’t really get the Booing. Anyone who thinks Booing or Abusing players or Officials will encourage them to improve in some way are deluded. It can only add more pressure. While it’s a result game I do put a lot of emphasis on performances, personally I feel good performances breeds good players. Brady in all fairness has probably had his squad reduced to one of the worst if not the worst in league one, but as he points out 1 defeat in 10 home games is a remarkable return. The fact that he admits performances haven’t been at a standard he requires, for me, shows he acknowledges the quality does need to improve. So I’m happy! While the quality has been missing the effort never has been!
