Port Vale manager Darren Moore says that the Trophy win in midweek has given his side confidence but they will still need to be wary of FA Cup opponents Bristol Rovers on Saturday.
The Valiants will be favourites as they are playing at home against opponents from a lower division but Moore remains wary. He told the club’s in-house PVTV team: “The form guide goes right out of the window in FA Cup competition.”
Moore is excited about the second-round tie adding: “It’s a game that we are looking forward to. It’s a cup match and we are relishing the opportunity (against) an experienced manager I know really well in Darrell.”
The Vale manager is disappointed that the FA saw fit to change competition rules and remove replays commenting: “It’s knock-out football. It’s a shame that the replays have been taken away. It’s such a shame that the lower placed clubs don’t get a bonus.”
After the side’s midweek Trophy win, Moore says spirits are high saying: “It’s been good to get back into training. It’s good to see where their confidence is at the moment.”
The win has also given Moore some welcome selection headaches with the manager adding: “It’s a wonderful position to be in. When you’re playing games you want more options, more decisions to make and that’s what the boys have done.”

Getting his excuses in before the game, as usual! They’ve lost eight on the bounce and are there for the taking.
The win in the FA Cup first round was a confidence builder according to DM and that didn’t do us much good. Bristol come to the Vale on a worse run than us in a division lower so it will be very disappointing if we were to lose. I’m hoping Croasdale will be given Garrity’s roll because the lad was outstanding last season and I don’t think he’s had a fair crack of the whip especially with results being as poor as they have been. I’m not holding my breath though.
