Port Vale have been drawn at home against Darrell Clarke’s Barnsley side in the first round of the FA Cup.
Clarke famously guided Vale to promotion through the 2022 play-off final at Wembley.
Last season, the Valiants were defeated by Stevenage in a second round replay after beating Burton in the first round.

Humdinger of a First Round FA Cup tie against one of the best League 1 sides, managed the Vale’s ex boss. Crowds at Vale Park for FA Cup matches have been down in recent years, but this intriguing tie should attract a decent gate. Another match to look forward to.
Clubs have made such a farce out of cup competitions, one wouldn’t be to surprised if both clubs turned their reserves teams out. We’ve come to the sad situation where clubs in the top half of their respected leagues all of a sudden consider themselves as a BIG team, which puts early rounds of cup competitions beneath them. No doubt ridiculous comments such as “needing to rest player’s” will raise its horrible head, showing none or little respect for the competition and the supporters of the club.
We owe Barnsley, this is a good chance to show Barnsley a real Vale team
