Port Vale manager Darren Moore said the performance “just wasn’t good enough” as the Valiants suffered a 4-0 away loss at Barrow.
It was goalless at the break but a poor second-half performance saw Vale collapse as they conceded four in the second 45 minutes.
When the first goal went in, we didn’t seem to react well and the game ran away from us. The goals we conceded were poor from our point of view…
After the game, Moore told the media: “The performance just wasn’t good enough. The first goal was always going to be important in such a tight game. It fell to them. But the performance after that is what is most disappointing. Up until then, there wasn’t much in the game. It gave them a massive lift and took the wind out of our sails.
“Credit to Barrow. They kept their momentum and grew in confidence. But it looked like we capitulated a bit after that. It was a deserved victory for Barrow but this is a moment for us to look within ourselves and see where that performance came from in the second half.
“It goes to show the result when you don’t apply yourselves in the manner you should. When the first goal went in, we didn’t seem to react well and the game ran away from us. The goals we conceded were poor from our point of view.”
Moore took the Vale players over to applaud the disgruntled visiting fans at the end and he said: “Regardless of the result, the players have to stay connected with the supporters. Not one of them was going to go inside without fronting it up and being in front of the fans. That is right thing to do. We all like it when the nice and smooth bits of football come along. But when you have suffered defeat, you have to be man enough to stand in front of the fans.”
Commenting on Sam Hart’s late injured he added: “It looked like he got his studs caught a bit in the ground. When we assess him, we’ll see if there is any damage.”

Shocking display and Moore is to blame, has not a clue of his best line up. National League here we come. Get it sorted Carol our we we are going to be staring.at the abyss come next May.
Absolutely disgusting Vale it comes to something when you can’t beat Barrow it’s going to be a long season
No togetherness, could not sting 3 passes together,,,,,, we should be beating teams like Barrow with blindfolds on ,,, travelled two and half hours each way to watch this SSHH.””
Feels sorry for the fans who go away on a regular basis to travel all that way and pay good money to watch a display like that we won’t be the only fancied team to go to a club you are expected to beat easily and lose that’s football we don’t know our best team yet and when we do and they start playing together regularly then i am sure we will be where we should be with the quality we have
