Possible injuries to Sam Hart and Kyle John, along with the absence of Connor Hall, could leave Port Vale manager Darren Moore with limited left-sided defensive options for the forthcoming game with Doncaster Rovers.

There’s a possibility that Sam Hart, Kyle John and Connor Hall could all miss the match. Hart was substituted at Barrow and helped off the pitch late on. Moore commented that “It looked like he got his studs caught a bit in the ground. When we assess him, we’ll see if there is any damage.” Meanwhile, left wingback Kyle John was spotted with a large icepack on his leg after the game.
If the pair are unable to feature against Rovers it leaves Vale with an issue at left wingback.

Mitch Clark, who can play on both flanks, is recovering from surgery while other left-sided options Dan Jones and Conor Grant are both believed to be injured. The obvious selection for Darren Moore would be to draft in teenager Jack Shorrock. The 17 year-old has made eighteen senior appearances over the last three seasons and agreed a long-term professional contract in the summer.
However. left-sided cover at centre-half is more of a problem. If Connor Hall and Sam Hart are not available in time for the Doncaster Rovers match there is no natural left-footed centre-half option available.
With another left-footer, Dan Jones, on the sidelines, Vale could bring the experienced Nathan Smith, on the bench for the Barrow game, into their back three. They could also opt for youngster Ben Lomax.
However, none of Lomax, Smith, Jesse Debrah nor James Heneghan are naturally left-footed.

It’s already ridiculous that we have so many injuries so early in the season. It’s so badly run that we seem to be a A&E unit. Our medical set up was well admired but now it’s a joke.
