A young Port Vale side were beaten by Leek Town in a friendly match on Tuesday evening.
The Vale line-up contained a number of players with first-team appearances including Ben Lomax, Liam Brazier, Logan Cousins and Andrew Buah.
Vale had chances through Edward Lake, Clayton Malbon and Joe Hunter but they were unable to beat former Vale goalkeeper Dino Visser.
The winner came in the 88th minute from Grice who pounced on a rebound after a save from keeper Arron Davies.
