Port Vale 0-3 Middlesbrough reaction – what the managers said…
Thoughts from a “disappointed” Andy Crosby while Michael Carrick praised a “fantastic” performance from the visitors.
The game ended 3-0 to Middlesbrough on the night and here are the post-match views of both managers.
Andy Crosby – Port Vale manager
“First of all congratulations to Michael and his side. I think when they scored so early in the second-half they had total control then.
“We spoke about having that little bit of luck that we need on our side and for us to play our best and we probably didn’t get the little bit of luck, a slight deflection for the first goal but we have to give credit to them it’s the level we’re trying to get to.
“We’ve seen first-hand now the level of Championship players. I thought they controlled possession, they executed a lot of things how we’re trying to play in our own League but obviously they’re better at it.
“I thought the fans and the atmosphere they created were just great. We’re just disappointed that we couldn’t make that last step.”
Michael Carrick – Middlesbrough manager
“I thought the boys were fantastic. We’ve seen it so many times that these games are not easy. We expected it to be a bit of a flurry at the start an it was important we wrestled control. I thought we looked dangerous, I thought we controlled the game really well. I couldn’t really ask for anything more from the game.”
