“You’ve got to take the game away from the opposition” – Andy Crosby rues more missed Vale chances
Port Vale manager Andy Crosby said a solitary “lapse of concentration” lead to Vale only drawing but says his side could have made the win safe if they’d been more clinical.
Speaking to the media after his side’s 1-1 draw during which they conceded a late equaliser he was asked if that late Lincoln strike hurts. He said: “It does. They take the one clear-cut chance they probably have in the whole game.”
Crosby felt it was a game of two halves adding that the “First-half performance was very good (however) we lose a player at the start of the second-half, again some naivety – you have to learn if you’re on a yellow card and you’re giving the referee a decision to make… (then) to be fair they were on top.”
Despite that pressure from the home side, Crosby was disappointed not to hang on for a win saying: “a little lapse of concentration and we concede a goal late on.”
However, the manager felt that a more clinical Port Vale performance would have made the game safe before that late drama adding: “for all our good play we still missed chances. You’ve got to take the game away from the opposition. We’re a really nice team but… that clinical edge, we’re currently missing.”
