Port Vale and Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Spurs youngster Alfie Devine has joined Port Vale on a season-long loan.
Devine joins Kofi Balmer, Josh Thomas and Oliver Arblaster as a summer loan addition to the Vale squad.
The Spurs statement says:
Alfie Devine has joined League One side Port Vale on loan for the remainder of the 2023/24 season.
The 19-year-old midfielder has featured regularly for our Under-21s in recent seasons – he scored twice in 17 Premier League 2 appearances last term while also netting three goals in four Under-19 UEFA Youth League games – and has made two senior competitive appearances for us to date, scoring once.
An England youth international, he was part of the Young Lions side that won the European Under-19 Championship in 2022 and earlier this year featured at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Argentina, where he scored twice in England’s four games.
Port Vale manager Andy Crosby commented:
We are delighted to be welcoming Alfie to the club and we’re looking forward to seeing him develop on and off the pitch with us here at Vale Park.
He’s an exciting young player who shows a maturity beyond his years on the pitch and that comes as a result of the elite environments he has already experienced with Tottenham and England.
It’s testament to the progress the club is making on and off the pitch that top clubs are now trusting us with their best young talent, he will have the support of the staff and the players as we help him to grow. He will also have a part to play with our own younger players and is an example of what hard work and dedication to your career can help you achieve.
