Defender injury blow for Port Vale
Port Vale defender Dan Jones is likely to miss the end of the season after having ankle surgery.
Jones was injured during the game against Shrewsbury Town last month and manager Darrell Clarke has confirmed that it is “very doubtful” that Jones will feature again this season.
Clarke told the media that: “Dan Jones has needed surgery on his ankle so it is very much doubtful that he will be available for the rest of the season.
“The keeper pulled off a great save from his header and he landed very badly on his ankle. It is very unfortunate for Dan. He has been a model of consistency this season. I think he has grown in the division. We wish him a speedy recovery and we will get behind him on his recovery.”
Jones was signed in the summer of 2021 and has made 56 appearances for the Valiants including 25 this season.
Vale signed Nottingham Forest loanee Aaron Donnelly in January and he is likely to continue on the left side of the back three in Jones’ absence.
