Andy Crosby hails incredible effort and commitment to the cause
Interim manager Andy Crosby was full of praise for his players after an away win at Salford took the team three points clear in the automation promotion places.
The Valiants continued their superb form by ending Salford’s winning streak thanks to an effort by Harry Charsley. It was due reward for Vale’s effort on the night where they pushed for a winner from the outset.
We produced the moments in the first-half without taking advantage and we spoke at half-time about continuing to do the work without the ball but showing that little bit more composure in the final third. For me, there was only one team that was going to win the game…
Crosby told the media: “I am immensely proud, I am getting prouder of them every day it seems. The effort and the commitment to the cause tonight was incredible against a team who are on an unbelievable run of form. They have caused teams real problems here and have a style they are really good at. But I thought we nullified that.
“From the front guys putting pressure on the ball high up the pitch to our midfield players winning second balls, and then I thought our three centre backs were immense against Smith who has obvious qualities. But I thought we nullified that to a real good level.
