Awful performance – Port Vale manager apologises after home draw
Port Vale manager Darrell Clarke was clearly unhappy with his side’s performance after the 0-0 home draw with Northampton Town as he apologised to the home fans.
It was a game of few chances and little quality at Vale Park and after the game, Clarke made his feelings known.
I apologise to my supporters having to pay to watch it to be honest with you because I just didn’t think there was any quality whatsoever…
He told the media: “It is an awful performance from us. I thought we were poor throughout the majority of the game to be honest with you.
“There is no papering over that, it is unrecognisable from the last four or five games when we have been right at it and it is up to me to work out why that was.
“I apologise to my supporters having to pay to watch it to be honest with you because I just didn’t think there was any quality whatsoever.
“We didn’t string two or three passes together and it was like chalk and cheese from the other night.
“But what I will say is, when you play as badly as that, make sure you don’t lose. We got a clean sheet.
“We have to move on quickly and make sure the performance is a lot better next week.”
