Very soon – Port Vale manager gives hopeful assessment of player comeback
Port Vale may have a depleted squad at the moment, but Darrell Clarke has at least given an upbeat assessment of one player’s chances of returning.
The Valiants are missing the likes of Jamie Proctor, Tom Conlon and Jake Taylor through injury.
Left-sided defender Dan Jones was also dismissed during Port Vale’s defeat to Newport County back in mid-December.
Due to Covid postponements his three match ban lasted well over a month but the summer signing was due to return for the game against Leyton Orient on Saturday.
However, Jones was absent after picking up an injury. Fortunately, it appears to be only a slight injury and Clarke is confident of having the defender back in his squad “very soon.”
Port Vale’s Absentees
- James Gibbons: hamstring tear
- Tom Conlon: achilles injury
- David Worrall: Covid-related
- Dan Jones: a “knock”
- Jamie Proctor: recovering from stomach surgery
- Devante Rodney: unknown, possible long-standing heel complaint
