Port Vale suffer major blow after Newcastle Utd loanee injury news
Port Vale have suffered a major blow with the news that loanee Lewis Cass has suffered a season ending injury.
Cass suffered two ligament tears in his ankle.
The news means that Vale are now short of numbers in the right wingback role as James Gibbons is also out of action while David Worrall has only just returned from a Covid related issue.
A club statement indicated that the player’s loan spell will be ended and manager Darrell Clarke has also indicated that the club will seek to bring in a replacement on Monday.
Clarke told the official website: “It’s a real real blow for us and Lewis to be honest, it looks like he’ll be going back to Newcastle for his rehab and we wish him well.
“He has been outstanding for us, he’s served the club with massive credit, the fans loved him, I loved him and we all wish him a speedy recovery”
