We are preparing for that game – Port Vale CEO on Rochdale fixture
Port Vale CEO Colin Garlick said that as of Monday morning the club were preparing for their next League Two fixture – a visit to Rochdale.
The last two Port Vale fixtures have been postponed due to positive COVID tests and isolations among the Valiants squad and there has been speculation that this game may also not take place.
Rochdale is scheduled and we are preparing for that game…
The situation could still change but Garlick told the Sentinel that at the moment the club expect the game to go ahead. He said: “Rochdale is scheduled and we are preparing for that game.
“Only three games of a scheduled twelve were played in League Two on Boxing Day as games throughout the divisions were called off.
“Normally it is weather issues that we are faced with, this year it has been totally different for so many clubs with the Covid situation and the Omicron variant.
“In the middle of last week we saw a change in the dates with regard to isolation periods from ten to seven days in certain circumstances so all of these are things you have to consider.
“There was something like only eight or nine fixtures took place out of a possible 36 on Boxing Day so you can see how this had affected the fixture list.”
Garlick also confirmed that the recall of on loan midfielder Danny Whitehead was to boost the team’s number of available players. Whitehead has not played for the Vale first-team so far this season.
