Frustrated but have to take the positives – Darrell Clarke on Port Vale’s season so far
Port Vale manager Darrell Clarke says he is still “very positive” about the side’s chances despite their winless start to the 2021-22 campaign.
Speaking to the local media ahead of Port Vale’s trip to Stevenage on Saturday, Clarke commented:
We’re in the early stages of the season. I am frustrated to be honest with you… all three home games could have gone in our favour with a mixture of a bit of run of the green, better finishing, better final third play.
We’ve defended on the whole superbly, limited opposition to very few chances. I’m very optimistic about this group so there’s no reason not to be positive.
The group’s frustrated that we’ve not had a better start, but we have to take the positives out and if we continue to do what we’re doing, with better end product, we’ll win many more games this season.
The fans have been fantastic and I’m just gutted that we haven’t got at least two wins.
The players have certainly deserved and warranted more than we’ve got.
Let’s keep building and being positive.
