Former Port Vale player Derek Tomkinson passes away
Derek Tomkinson, who played for the Valiants in the 1950s, has sadly passed away at the age of 90.
Locally-born Tomkinson initially joined the club as a amateur in 1949 but left to join Burton Albion.
He returned to the Valiants in 1952 to join the side as a professional and made thirty appearances, scoring five goals before he left the club in 1955. He was in the Port Vale starting eleven for the famous FA Cup semi-final game against West Brom in 1954.
He also had spells with Crewe Alexandra, Macclesfield Town and Altrincham.
