Port Vale boss delivers bad news on defender’s injury
Port Vale manager Darrell Clarke has delivered bad news about the injury which forced defender James Gibbons to miss the game against Grimsby Town.
Gibbons was missing from Saturday’s squad and after the game Clarke told the media that the full-back had suffered a reoccurrence of a hamstring injury. The same injury ruled him out for nearly three months earlier this season.
Hopefully we can rectify it properly in the summer and he comes back stronger…
Clarke commented: It’s not good news at all. (It is) Gibbo’s hamstring, that he has had ongoing issues with throughout the course of the season. So, that was a body blow. The result today is a body blow.
“He trains, we do everything right, I monitor everything in training. Sometimes it is unfortunate, it is obviously a weakness area in his hamstring that is causing that problem. Hopefully we can rectify it properly in the summer and he comes back stronger.
“But I feel for the lad. He is a great lad, a real warrior a real winner, so we will rally around him and pick him up.”
