Smith in again and two goals down this is not rocket science but pure stupidity unless we want non league football. Statistics don’t lie Smith in the side and goals are conceded. Same for the last 5 seasons are the managers told to play him or are they oblivious to his record and limitations

It was the wrong defence formation from the start. I would have gone along with Smith, Brisley, Legge and Fitzpatrick, and also have kept Conlon in the side. How could John Askey think in terms of dropping Legge but keeping Mills in the line-up. The writing was on the wall when we got beat by King’s Lynn in the FA Cup but we learnt no lessons from that defeat and many instances since which have gone unheeded. The whole team should be shown videos of how teams like Accrington and Fleetwood perform against much stronger teams than we meet. These are clubs with a much smaller budget than Vale, much smaller grounds, much smaller fan base and more important much smaller squads and yet they manage to operate with respect in a much stronger higher League than Vale . What has gone so wrong with a squad that looked so good in the earlier matches of the current season ? Somebody please tell me !
