Everyone is coming together – Askey hails off-field efforts over the summer
Port Vale manager John Askey says the club’s work over the summer will have made the fanbase “proud.”
The Port Vale community hub, formed by owner Carol Shanahan at the start of lockdown, has delivered more than 150,000 meals to families across the city.
The club has always had a solid base. But I think now everybody is coming together…
Askey told the Sentinel newspaper: “I think a lot of that is due to the work that has gone on during Covid. I think the supporters are proud to be part of Port Vale and proud of their club.
“It is magnificent. With everything that has gone on, people’s jobs under threat and we didn’t know whether the season would start – but they have put their faith in the football club and keep it going like that. You can’t thank them enough. It is fantastic from them.
