Everyone is loving it – John Askey on Port Vale form as they near play-offs
Port Vale manager John Askey says his team has a “great team spirit” after their away win over Northampton Town edged the side closer to a potential spot in the League Two play-off places.
The Valiants won 1-0 thanks to a goal from David Worrall and the win puts them level on points with seventh place in the table albeit with an inferior goal difference.
It is enjoyable to come in and work with them. I think everybody is loving it at the moment…
Askey told the media: I think we have talked about it for the majority of the season, haven’t we? About trying to get promoted. We all know the position we are in, the games are getting less and less and we are getting closer. So, it is a good position to be in. The players are full of it now.
“You can see how they have come together as a team. If you get a good team spirit, which we have got, and players who can play, then anything is possible.
“But we are not getting carried away. We know we need to work really hard and have that little bit of luck when it is needed.
