Back to playing some decent football – Port Vale boss on win over Leyton Orient
Port Vale manager John Askey said he was pleased with the style of Port Vale’s play after their 1-0 home win over Leyton Orient.
The Valiants secured their first home win since the 29th December thanks to winger David Amoo’s second-half strike. However, the Valiants created a number of chances before the winning goal including chances for Will Atkinson, Mark Cullen and David Worrall.
The three points makes up for the disappointment of Vale’s midweek loss to Morecambe and see Vale stretch their unbeaten run at home to four matches.
I am just pleased were back to playing some decent football…
Vale now have a welcome rest before the trip to Swindon Town as they are without a midweek game next week.
Askey was pleased that the win kept Vale within touching distance of the League Two play-off places telling the media: “We are still in there. the table looks a lot better tonight. We are four points off fifth so that keeps our hopes alive. That’s what we want to do now until the end of the season.
“Without getting carried away, there are still lots of things we can improve on. But I am just pleased were back to playing some decent football.”
