Port Vale are fined £2,000 by the FA
Port Vale have been fined by the Football Association for “failing to ensure players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion.”
The Vale and opponents Scunthorpe United were both charged after the game on the 23rd November.
Iron midfielder Matthew Lund and Valiants forward David Worrall were sent off after the final whistle of the League Two game last month.
Speaking after the match, Vale manager John Askey spoke about the incident saying: “The last thing you want is people pushing and shoving because that doesn’t do any good. It’s not what we want.”
The Valiants unsuccessfully appealed against Worrall’s ban with Askey adding: “I am disappointed . We did put an appeal in. I am surprised it didn’t get overturned, but I was disappointed with David reacting at the end. It is not something we want to see. But it was something and nothing I thought. I am just disappointed, he has been doing so well, to lose him for four games is a big loss.”
Scunthorpe have been fined £1,000, while the Valiants were given a £2,000 sanction after both admitted the charge.
It is the second FA fine for the club after Vale were fined £1,750 for a similar incident during September’s visit to Leyton Orient.
