We take a leaf through the pages of a programme from Port Vale’s 1963-64 season and a trip to rivals Wrexham
About this match
Taking place in the 1963-64 season, this turned out to be Vale’s second away win of the campaign so far. The Valiants won 2-1 thanks to a double strike from Northern Ireland star Billy Bingham who had signed for the club in the summer. It was played in front of 6,731 people. The Valiants were to win the return 5-0 thanks to goals from Tony Richards (2), a Bingham penalty, Smith and Cheeseborough. Vale would end the season in a mid-table 13th position while Wrexham were sadly relegated.
Note: this programme is a somewhat unusual square design.
