He gives us another option – Port Vale manager on returning striker
Port Vale manager John Askey says that striker Mark Cullen will be an asset for the side later on in the season.
Cullen has had a stop-start beginning to his Vale career, scoring twice but also suffering an injury which has kept him out for several weeks. The experienced forward returned to the Port Vale squad for the home draw with Oldham Athletic, coming on in the closing stages.
He’s a good footballer who, when he gets hold of the ball, can bring other people into play. He gives us another option…
Askey told the Sentinel newspaper: “Mark, as we know when we brought him in, is a good player at this level.
“He just hasn’t been 100 per cent fit for the majority of the time.
“Once he’s up and running and gets his chance he will fit in up front.
“He’s a goalscorer. He can play off another centre-forward, or play alone, or can drop a little bit deeper, so he’s quite versatile.
