We need to work it out – Port Vale manager on away game tactics
Port Vale manager John Askey says that while the side’s defensive attitude was good, the team need to work on their attacking play.
Commenting on the 2-0 loss to Exeter Askey said: “When Exeter had chances in the box, people were putting their bodies on the line and throwing themselves at it and that is what you want. You can’t ask any more of them.
“But when we play in those games we need to work it out a little bit more. We are trying to play in areas where we can’t play. It just needs helping on and getting teams turned, and then go and play in the final third.
“I didn’t think we were at it in the first half. In the second half we were better but, having got to the 82nd minute you are thinking it might be our day.”
