I am really disappointed – Port Vale manager on away draw with Leyton Orient
Port Vale manager John Askey conceded he was “disappointed” after Port Vale drew 3-3 with Leyton Orient on Saturday.
The Valiants looked to have secured a long overdue away league win thanks to goals from Scott Burgess, Leon Legge and Jake Taylor only for the home side to equalise in injury time.
I thought we had weathered the storm and then we got that third goal, but it wasn’t to be…
Speaking after the match Askey told the media: “I am really disappointed for the players and the supporters. At 3-2 up with minutes to go… all those goals we conceded today were avoidable but I think the disappointing part is in the second-half we stopped playing.
“We got embroiled in a bit of a fight and a scrap. We needed to get our foot on the ball and pass it better than we did.
“I thought we had weathered the storm and then we got that third goal, but it wasn’t to be. But to come away from home and score three goals – you expect to win.”
