Manager says Port Vale should have scored more goals against Northampton Town
Port Vale manager John Askey said the side should have taken more of their chances in the 1-1 home draw with Northampton Town.
Vale took the lead through David Amoo’s header before the visitors equalised through a controversial corner just before the break.
I thought we performed quite well. We had a lot of chances and should have won the game…
After the game, Askey said: “I thought we performed quite well. We had a lot of chances and should have won the game. I’m disappointed with the time of the goal again for the opposition, and the way it came about. But overall I thought we performed well and should have got the three points.
“We have been working on corners and set pieces – that’s the first one probably since I have been at the club that we have scored from. So, at least something is working! But we should have scored more goals. We had a lot of chances.
“What we have to realise is when we go one up, we are good enough to be one up. We have to now get the mentality that we have to go and push for another goal and not just settle for being one up. I thought we were probably guilty of that a little bit in the first half.”
