Port Vale coach says new signings may take a little longer to adapt to system
Port Vale coach Dave Kevan says the team’s more established players are now used to the team’s style of play but the newer signings may “take a little more time.”
Some Vale fans have pointed out that the majority of starters this season have been players who were on the club’s books last season. While three new signings – David Amoo, Mark Cullen and Richie Bennett – have found the net, only Amoo has been a regular starter. Cullen and Bennett plus the likes of Kieran Kennedy, Scott Burgess, Callum Evans and Ryan Lloyd are yet to start a league game.
I think some of the new lads have probably taken a little more time, whereas the boys we had towards the end of last season, we’ve already introduced that to them…
Speaking to the media ahead of the Forest Green game, Kevan says that last season’s squad are now well acquainted with the side’s style and this may account for their inclusion in the starting eleven.
Kevan commented: “Generally our performance level’s been acceptable and that’s the encouraging thing. We are creating chances and I think that’s important, it’s important for our front players to know that there’s a service there to them and it’s just a case of being more clinical.
