Legend John Rudge is named as Port Vale president
Legendary former manager John Rudge has been named as the Port Vale president.
The news was announced before Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Northampton Town.
Rudge was Vale manager from 1984 to 1999 when he guided the Vale to three promotions, three Wembley appearances, and produced a number of talented players to be sold on for a profit. He returned to the club as an advisor in 2017.
Rudge commented: “Port Vale means such a lot to me. I am very proud and honoured to be asked to take this role on. I don’t know 100 per cent what it actually entails! But it will be more or less the same as I have been doing since I have been back in the last 18 months or so.
“I have fantastic memories of this club and it means so much to me.”

Great move vale, fully deserved another brilliant effort to bring the club together and promote the club in the best possible way. Got to be a tremendous asset.
