Port Vale to host Burton Albion in Carabao Cup first round
Port Vale have been drawn at home to Burton Albion in the first round of the Carabao Cup.
The game will take place at Vale Park during the week commencing 12th August.
Port Vale versus Burton Albion head-to-head
The two sides have met competitively eleven times with the Valiants ahead by five wins to three. There have also been three draws. This will be just the second cup meeting between the two sides.
The last encounter was in the group stages of the Football League Trophy in October 2018 when it finished 1-0 to the Valiants thanks to a rare goal from striker Ricky Miller (pictured right)
However, Vale lost their last home league match 4-0 back in March 2016.
The Valiants could face former loanee Marcus Harness. The winger spent the 2017-18 season on loan with Vale and is now a regular in the Burton first-team squad. He made 39 appearances scoring six goals last season.
Money talks
Burton struggled when they reached the Championship and a leading factor was the huge financial gap between that division and League One. Albion were unable to compete on a level playing field. The amount of money washing around the upper echelons of professional football is nothing short of incredible.
