Marathon effort: OVF founder raises over £1,000 for North Staffs Carers
In April 2019, OVF founder Rob Fielding ran his first-ever marathon after entering the London Marathon to raise money for North Staffs Carers.
Rob was able to complete the course in a time of four hours and 58 minutes and by doing so he has raised £1,244 for North Staffs Carers.
I hope the amount I raised will help North Staffs Carers continue their amazing work and I’d like to thank everyone for their support…
Rob explains why he picked North Staffs Carers commenting: “My elderly parents live in a small village outside of Stoke-on-Trent. My dad has dementia and at times my mum has struggled to cope as his primary carer 24 hours a day. I have been hugely grateful for the help that the unpaid North Staff Carers Association have provided to my mum and in turn to my dad. They have provided hours of advice, telephone support as well as being there in person on numerous occasions.”
He added: “I hope the amount I raised will help North Staffs Carers continue their amazing work and I’d like to thank everyone for their support. I’d like to single out my wife, Jo, who entered me for the marathon and whose support and encouragement and support (enabling me to disappear for hours on end on long training runs) was amazing; my mum, Mavis, who worked tirelessly getting donations and my parents’ local shop, F. Bickerton, who raised lots of money with the donation forms in their shop.”
“Finally, I’d like to thank everyone who donated to my cause. I have to say it’s far more enjoyable looking back on the day than it was running miles 25 and 26…”
