Port Vale manager offers encouraging update on takeover talks
Port Vale manager John Askey has said that “things are going quite well” with the takeover talks between owner Norman Smurthwaite and Synectics Solutions, who want to take over the club.
Askey is out of contract along with a number of Vale players but he is hopeful that their future, along with that of the football club, can be resolved soon.
The Vale manager told the official Port Vale website: “From what I hear, things are going quite well with the talks off the field and hopefully this will be the start of good times for the football club.
“Fingers crossed my future will be sorted one way or another too, but the first thing is that the owners get in place and other things will then happen in due course. I’m hopeful, but you never know.”
The Valiants were plunged into crisis when owner Norman Smurthwaite reacted to fans protests by claiming he would put the club into administration if a sale was not agreed by the 5th May.
Synectics Solutions owners Carol and Kevin Shanahan have entered an exclusivity agreement to buy the football club and supporters will be hopeful that a takeover is imminent.
