Things I have never dealt with in 30 years – Askey criticices “some” Port Vale players
Port Vale manager John Askey says some of the players in his squad have been unprofessional this season.
Askey would not name the players involved but he told the media: “There are things that have gone on in my short stay here that shouldn’t go on.
There are things that have gone on in my short stay here that shouldn’t go on…
“I have had to deal with things I have never dealt with in 30 odd years of being in football.
“There are standards that people need to abide by and that hasn’t been the case.
“All I have done is what you would expect of a football manager and then just try to pass that on to the players. The clue is in the word ‘professional’. You are a professional footballer and that is what some of our players need to be a little bit more of.”

Should make the retained list an interesting lead – the only problem being if any of the guilty parties are still in contract. Good to see the manager looking for proper commitment though.
