Potential owners: we’re still interested and we’d want fans to own Vale Park
Potential Port Vale owners Carol and Kevin Shanahan have told the Sentinel that they are still interested in buying the club.
The Shanahans, owners of neighbouring business Synectics Solutions had a £3.5m bid for the club turned down earlier this year.
They told the Sentinel: “We have tried to walk away a number of times. Each time we walk away, we come back. We are here because I think it is something that we can do, we know we have the skills to do it and I wouldn’t want to take our interest away, that wouldn’t be fair.”
However, it would not be at the price which current owner Norman Smurthwaite apparently wants as they commented: “No we wouldn’t be prepared to meet that. The offer we put in was £3.5m. We have put in different offers because different rounds of negotiations produce different results. We need a figure that is a lot closer to the figure that we are talking about.”
They added: “I just believe that Vale Park should be at least part owned, if not fully owned, by the fans.”
