Port Vale manager John Askey says that Tom Pope’s 100th goal for the club was a great way to seal a potentially priceless away win over Northampton Town.
Vale were trailing 1-0 and a man down before goals from David Worrall and Pope, his hundredth in a Vale shirt, earned a comeback win.
Askey said: “You are fearing the worst, hoping it is not going to be 4-0 or 5-0. But then our goal came at a great time and David finished it really well.
“Then in the second-half we came out and I don’t think they caused us too many problems at all. We caused them more problems.
“It was great, and it was a great way to get a win with Tom getting his 100th goal.”
