Port Vale owner confirms club are in talks with midfield target
Port Vale owner Norman Smurthwaite has said the club is in talks with Glenavon over a possible move for midfielder Mark Sykes.
Smurthwaite told the Sentinel newspaper: “We are in dialogue with the club, but we are not there yet so that is all I can say.”
Northern Ireland U21 International Sykes is the target of several clubs and on Saturday his manager Gary Hamilton said: “There has certainly been a lot of interest in Mark and a bid was made about a week to 10 days ago.
“That bid was rejected but I haven’t spoken to the chairman today to know if a new bid has come in.”
