Former Valiants: Kjell Knops plays first game in over a year
Former Port Vale defender Kjell Knops has reportedly played his first football match since April 2017.
Knops was signed in the summer of 2016 but he suffered a serious knee injury in a game against Rochdale in April 2017 and was unable to feature for the Valiants again.
He was released in the summer but Vale said he was welcome to train with the club. However, Knops returned home due to a family illness.
Dutch newspaper De Limburger reports that Knops came on as a 61st minute substitute during MVV’s game against SG Wattenscheid 06.
Knops spent a five year spell with Maastricht-based MVV who play in the Dutch Eerste Divisie (second tier).
