Neil Aspin: we should have seen out the game
Manager Neil Aspin says his players are “genuine” but poor decision making allowed Crewe to equalise late on during the Easter Monday game.
In a dramatic match, a mistake from keeper Ryan Boot gave Crewe the lead before Luke Hannant is fouled in the box and Tom Pope scored the penalty. It was Pope’s 17th goal of the season.
They are genuine bunch of lads it’s just the decision making at times and the lack of talking… we should have seen out the game…
Kay’s stunning effort looked to have secured all three points for the Valiants before Charlie Kirk netted a late equaliser for the home side.
After the game Aspin told the media: “It was a game they were comfortable in. They gave a penalty away which allowed us to get back in the game. For 15 minutes it was the best we played in the game.
“I won’t fault the players’ efforts. They are genuine bunch of lads it’s just the decision making at times and the lack of talking… we should have seen out the game.”
